SweeTango® Minneiska
Apples are juicy and sweet with hints of fall spices. This apple’s flavor, balanced by vibrant acidity, dances to a long and satisfying finish on the palate. It also inherited the crisp texture of Honeycrisp and juiciness of Zestar!®. Early ripening season, late August.
Zestar
Large, crunchy, juicy red fruit with a sprightly sweet-tart flavor. Excellent for both fresh eating and cooking. The fruit will store for 6 to 8 weeks. Tree is vigorous. Introduced in 1999. Ripens late August to early September.
Fireside
Very large fruit with sweet flavor and fine-grained flesh good for fresh eating, salad, and baked apples. Tree is vigorous and weeping. Introduced in 1943. Ripens mid-October.
Honeycrisp
Has bright red and pale green outer skin and a cream colored crisp yet juicy inner flesh. With a sweet yet slightly tart flavor, this variety of apple is great for salads, baking, cooking or eating as a snack. It is a variety that stores well, up to 6 months.
Haralson
Firm texture with a complex tart flavor. Good for fresh eating and cooking. Especially good pie apple. The fruit will store for 4 to 5 months. Introduced in 1922. Ripens late September to early October.
Sweet Sixteen
Crisp and juicy with an exotic yellow flesh and a very sweet, unusual sugar cane or spicy cherry candy flavor. The fruit stores for 5 to 8 weeks. Introduced in 1977. Ripens mid to late September.
Chestnut Crabapple
Large, russeted crabapple with a rich, nutty flavor. Best for fresh eating or sauce. The fruit stores for 4 to 5 weeks. Introduced in 1949. Ripens early September.
Dolgo Crabapple
One of the hardiest and earliest of the crabapples to bloom, pink buds of Dolgo open to large, fragrant white flowers. Abundant fruits ripening in mid-summer are edible and excellent for jelly.
Kinderkrisp
Kids love it! This may be the best apple for lunch boxes and afternoon snacks. Outstanding flavor and crisp, fine texture. Best when fresh from the tree. Cold-hardy. Ripens in late August.
Cortland
Won’t turn brown! This productive tree bears gorgeous ruby red apples with a snowy center that won’t brown in salads. Also perfect for pies and cider. Cold-hardy. Ripens in mid September.
Frostbite
Intensely sweet, firm and juicy flesh. Stripped maroon-red and gold-yellow, 2 1/2″ diameter fruit. Excellent for cider. Introduced in 2008. Ripens late September to mid-October.
State Fair
Striped red, juicy, moderately tart fruit good for eating and cooking. The fruit will store for 2 to 4 to weeks. Introduced in 1977. Ripens mid- to late August.
